Overview

The System Admin Network tools support the Network Enterprise services at a major Department of Energy Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM. The mission is to deliver secure, consistent, and capable network and virtual services to ensure faster realization of business value to the client and its customers. This organization is responsible for providing secure, consistent, and highly available network infrastructures and virtual services to meet corporate and mission IT needs. Virtual Services will enable people to work with confidence in a secure computing environment. This support includes network and virtual services development, design, implementation, testing, trouble resolution, network monitoring tools, and maintenance contracts.

The work is an on-site with a Monday-Friday work schedule. Occasional after-hours work required for upgrades and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Provision, configure, and manage physical and virtual servers as well as the software that runs on the servers and the hardware that supports them.
  • Install and troubleshoot IT resources, establish, and manage user accounts, upgrade, and patch software, and perform backup and recovery tasks.
  • Familiar with network automation, monitoring, orchestration, troubleshooting, and provisioning tools, such as InMon products, AKIPS, Radiator AAA tools, application performance management products, and network performance management products.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience – AA in IT Related field plus 4 years of IT experience, in lieu of degree 7 years of job-related experience is required.
  • Experience in Windows/Linux system administration
  • Must be a US Citizenship
  • Maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q security clearance.

 

Required Skills

  • Complete knowledge of networking principles for conjuring and maintaining the organization of the network
  • Proper understanding all types of hardware including routers, switches, wires, and other essential equipment.
  • Knowledge of the common operating systems such as Linux, MS OS
  • Knowledge of IP addressing and some common networking protocols like IPv4 and IPv6.
  • Experience performing any network performance issues such as system crash.
  • Self-starter
  • Strong advance problem solving skills.
