Overview

We are seeking a Team Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the contractor staff within the department to include managing IT staff, managing performance improvement plans, and planning and enforcing IT policies for the contractor staff. Additionally, the IT Team Manager will implement strategic objectives in support of department business goals; essentially acting as the leader of the IT department, ensuring smooth functioning and delivery of IT operations and services provided across the department.  The work in this area will be performed at classified and unclassified levels in Windows and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

Team Management:
Lead and manage the IT teams, including training, performance evaluation, and assigning tasks to ensure optimal productivity.
System Administration:
Oversee the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of hardware and software systems, including servers, desktops, networks, and applications.
Project Management:
Lead IT projects from initiation to completion, including planning, execution, and monitoring progress against timelines and budgets.
Compliance:
Ensure accurate ticketing documentation and compliance with department policies.
User Support:
Provide technical support to contracting staff, addressing questions and resolving issues related to computer systems and applications.

 

Additional responsibility will be added or assigned as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience Bachelor’s Degree + 4 years of experience
  • Must be a US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q security clearance.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Network Administration or related field preferred and 4 + years of related work experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a team of IT service providers to deliver technology services and functions.
  • Strong technical understanding of computer networks, operating systems, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Ability to motivate and manage several IT teams to include improving compliance to ticketing policies and successfully coaching staff to be successful. Responsible for managing the work intake and ticketing process.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication with both technical and non-technical staff to explain complex concepts and gather requirements.
  • Project Management Skills that demonstrate a proven ability to plan, execute, and monitor IT projects within budget and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated competency in developing staff and leadership skills
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple activities and tasks.
  • Facilitation and change management skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English; both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent customer service skills

 

Desired Skills

  • Previous experience monitoring ticketing systems for quality and metrics – strong preference will be given to those who have worked with Jira and ServiceNow.
  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Active DOE Q clearance or DOD Top Secret
