Overview

Encantado Technical Solutions is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Senior Linux System Administration to support our client at a major National Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM.  The organization’s overall mission is to utilize industry best practice to create and apply standards, automation, and virtualization to expedite quality infrastructure services.  The vision of the team is to streamline delivery of modern, scalable and secure Enterprise Network Services that allows efficient, fast and cyber compliant connectivity to all Enterprise supported networks.

 

Responsibilities

  • Interact with multiple technical areas across IT with a solid understanding of networking firewalls, WAN/LAN technologies, and communication protocols to support automation and network tool services.
  • Install configure, maintain and monitor current automation and network tool suite.
  • Ensure existing portfolio of network tools provide the ability to monitor, analyze, and identify workflow, traffic, and service impacts.
  • Collaborate with high performing teams in close cooperation with internal and external partners to build, test, fix, deploy and integrate new features and functionality.
  • Perform trouble resolution activities.
  • Update technical documents.
  • Work autonomously or as team member/lead performing the daily monitoring, maintenance, and repair of physical and virtual Server based systems. Support.
  • Support incident escalations requiring considerable judgement and initiative to resolve technical issues affecting hardware, operating systems, or applications.
  • Work with vendors or external partners to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Maintain systems by applying operating system or application patches, install new or replace hardware, create/apply configuration changes to improve or restore system performance.
  • Develop instructions/procedures for System Administrators I & II.
  • Create scripts to aid with daily monitoring, maintenance, and repair of supported systems.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance checks. Perform system capacity analysis and planning.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizenship
  • BS in Computer Science (or related field) plus 2 years job-related experience or an Associate’s degree in related field plus 5 years experience or 8 years job-related experience in a similar field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy “Q” Clearance.

Required Skills:

  • Hands on experience supporting COTS software and services.
  • Candidate must have strong Red Hat Linux experience on servers (Server OS support 80/20 Red Hat/Windows server support).
  • Familiar with various OS, such as Unix, Linux, and Windows.
  • Knowledge of various network equipment.
  • Familiar with automation.
  • Experience maintaining the integrity of servers and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security.
  • Ability to self-motivate and complete tasks from multiple sources, including ticket systems and project management tools.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven
  • Strong background in Information Technology
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly
  • Ability to work independently on tasks.

Desired skills:

  • Experience with LAN/WAN equipment such as routers, switches and protocol analyzers
  • Experience with Automation Development
  • Programming in a scripting language.
  • Experience with Linux scripting and Python.
  • Experience supporting network tools such as AKiPS, SecureCRT, Panorama, Ciena One Control, TACACS and Radiator.
  • Experience crating/maintaining technical documentation
  • Passion for providing excellent customer service
  • Possess a growth mindset.
